I bought this KVM switch so I can continue using my home laptop (DELL XPS 17) and work laptop (DELL Latitude E6430) with the same keyboard and dual monitors that I have had at home. Office. The block is metal, heavy and apparently well built. I chose not to have any extra cables as I had most of the cables needed for the installation. There was a DVI cable adapter that I bought mono priced. You must examine the required connectors and cables very carefully to ensure a hassle-free installation. The cables are quite tangled and you should consider buying zip ties or velcro to organize the wiring. It was a little fiddly to set up, but I managed to go through all the video settings without much effort. It can be a little tricky for a novice computer user, but it's not that bad. The only technical issue I have is that sometimes when I reboot my computer the video doesn't display properly on reboot and there is no other way to recover than turning off the KVM switch. It would be nice to have a power switch for this, but I have to reach out and unplug the DC power for the system to work properly. This is annoying and I'm not sure why this is happening. The rest of the system works fine. I can switch between my work and home computers without too much trouble. I usually use the buttons on the module to switch active computers since my Logitech keyboard doesn't have a SCROLL LOCK button, but uses a key combination instead. This makes the keyboard switcher a bit awkward to use. I would recommend it to a friend if you have similar needs as I have for my home office. I use it lightly and I may not like it when I use it daily with the video reset problem described above.
