I bought this to make masks, so I thought the small one would work. I also thought that the included knife would work with the small amount of material I had to cut. At first I thought it was me, but after trying several times, the knife doesn't cut thru the material without excessing pressure (have a shoulder problem, so won't work for me), the blade comes loose, so needs constant tightening, the ruler is not very visible, and while the cutting mat does the job, the small size doesn't make it practical. If you're looking for a cutting mat, get the large size and save your money.
