Does what it's supposed to do - got it yesterday and have made several batches of butter with it. I've made homemade butter using a similar method in the past. It's as easy as they say: you pour in the cream, shake until your hand looks like jelly, and that's it. It only takes a few minutes, but don't overcrowd it. I've found that 1 cup of heavy cream requires VERY vigorous shaking. Adding a little less cream means you don't have to shake as much. The lid with holes is very convenient for draining. Pour in the cream, shake until it feels firm, you will hear something move inside the container, then keep shaking until you feel it separate again. It's weird to keep shaking it when nothing's moving, but you have to keep shaking it until it separates again. Drain the buttermilk (use for marinating or for pancakes etc.), add some very cold water and shake gently, drain, add some more cold water, shake gently and drain again. Place the crumbly oil on cheesecloth, gently squeezing out excess liquid. It leaves behind fresh, tasty oil. After cooking, add some honey or garlic for spicier variations.
