Protects them from punctures in hot spots

We love the dog vest. We have an Australian Shepherd here in Alabama, the pollen capital of the world, who suffers from quite severe allergies, especially in the spring. We feed her grain free, give her fish oil and a daily dose of Benedryl, but she still gets hot spots in the spring and fall. The hot spots are usually on her back, from the middle of her back to the start of her tail, and she bites them. Then they bruise, itch more and she bites them more. The point is, we can't take her anywhere because she looks so offended. We tried ointments, sprays, baths, all sorts of things, but nothing helped. We recently bought her a "doggy donut" which puffs up around her neck and prevents her from reaching and reaching the affected area, but she severely limits her mobility and looks pretty goofy on walks in the park. We ordered the vest thinking that the vest would protect her back and back for most of the day and keep her from biting. The front Velcro strap that goes around your neck can be tightened, keeping the vest very snug on the back of your head. This exposes her hind legs which we are trying to protect, so we loosen the neck strap and tighten the waist strap which is well below her back and the vest covers the affected area. While everything is fine, she does not lick or bite the area protected under the vest and the vest is very light and she is not hot at all. On walks with the dogs, the children like to see them and no one seems to care about the vest. This is not a service vest, nor does it look like it, so we agree it is not a service dog.
