Review on πŸ”Œ Plug & Play Blue LED Display Waterproof Gear Indicator for Honda Motorcycles by Ray Sheptock

Pretty decent with one or two small flaws

I like this product but there are a few things to consider before buying. First, the installation is very easy. I recommend first attaching the display to the desired location and then routing the cable accordingly. It connects directly to the bike's computer and works straight away. I was very happy with the installation. Second, programming is weird. You'll need about two miles of road, which you'll have to drive for a while at varying speeds depending on the gear you're in. You should be able to stay in each gear until the device finishes calibrating that gear (the number will flash slowly until you shift the bike into the specified gear, then flash quickly while learning. You will not be able to shift until it shows a new translation, so be prepared to stay for about 15 minutes at a time). seconds, gradually increasing speed until top gear is reached). If you get it a little wrong (like I did the first time), this thing will do its best to determine which gear you're in. fourth. I got out and found a longer way to recalibrate and made sure I was going faster in each gear than the last (I think I got it wrong the first time because I was going about the same speed in fourth as I was in fifth, huh made him stupid). After recalibration it works as it should. Finally, it only displays your current gear when the clutch is released. When you step on the clutch, a horizontal dash will appear until you release the clutch. This means that if you didn't know what gear you were in before you started shifting, you won't be able to know until you release the clutch. . This is probably my biggest annoyance with this product as I often get into a corner, clutch and brake, but forget what gear I was in before I started slowing down, then I look up which one I'm in the gear now but I've already disengaged the clutch so I can't see what gear I'm in and have to find out some other way, usually just full first gear and then from there count out the gears as needed. However, this was only a minor inconvenience. For what you get this is actually a great product and I love having an indicator that shows exactly what gear I'm in, even if it's only with the clutch disengaged.

Pros
  • Replacement parts
Cons
  • I won't say anything
