This product is great. I was looking for something my dog could use to signal us when to go outside so we could actually HEAR when we were in the back rooms of the house. She already knew how to ring the hotel bell but it wasn't loud enough for us when we were upstairs and we went downstairs to find the accident on the carpet. This solved the problem. She was very easy to train because she already knew how to ring the other bell, the pad was a little different, but she figured it out very quickly. The only downside, as others have mentioned, is that she calls when she wants something, like dinner or going for a walk. It's hard to tell her apart (i.e. read her mind) so I can't tell her not to call because we need her for the main purpose we got her for. In any case, I can't tell how far the bell is from the paw pad, as they are very close together for our purposes. Also, I would recommend it to anyone who needs to resolve any of these issues with their dog.
