Pleasantly surprised!

Media could not be loaded. This hidden gem has been around for a few years, but it was only a few weeks ago that I stumbled across them and heard about them for the first time. I was so excited to try these babies out for a trial run. The very first medium I worked with and mastered was graphite pencils. I've been a freelance graphite artist since I was 15 and have learned so much about this medium over the past 11 years. So when I stumbled upon this new version of my favorite material, I was wary but excited to try it. When I first started sketching on tinted paper, I quickly noticed that the pencils behaved like any other graphite pencil. However, when I tried to create a darker tone with pencils, I was a bit disappointed with his work. Without water, I have not been able to achieve an evenly dark or dark enough tone. However, when I brushed the same area with a wet brush, it immediately darkened and smoothed out nicely. If you're familiar with how watercolors work, you'll be pleased to know that this medium works exactly the same when wet. . The less water you add to the brush, the darker the tone will be. The more water you add, the lighter the shade will be and it will be easier to spread evenly on the paper. Keep in mind that like watercolor paint, this material becomes permanent once it gets wet. So I couldn't wash in places where I got wet like with ordinary graphite. Since I was using toned paper, I used a white VeriThin Prismacolor pen to blend out the highlights. This worked really well over the areas I applied water to (after it dries naturally). In summary, these water soluble graphite pencils were easy to use and made the drawing process much faster than using nibs like I did. I am fine. When dry, they handle similarly to regular graphite pencils (except for the ability to produce dense dark tones). When wet, they behave similarly to normal watercolor paints. So if you got your drawing wet, be prepared for things to become permanent. Feel free to watch my temporary demo video of how I use this product at: [.]
