I bought the X-E2 with an XC16-50mm lens, both used as test/trial lenses. Gradually, my Nikon+ lenses became less and less used and eventually sold. In the meantime I've bought a couple of Fuji Prime lenses. Then I had to buy X-PRO-2. Some time later I found that as much as I liked the XC16-50 I was used to the aperture ring (which the 16-50 lacks) so I bought it after seeing a used XF18-55mm at Revain. Aperture ring, why is it better than the XC18-55? Most important (to me) is the large maximum aperture, which in low light not only helps lower the ISO and/or achieve faster shutter speeds, but also increases the amount of light hitting the sensor, increasing the Autofocus becomes a little more accurate. Also, a large aperture helps reduce depth of field when I want to isolate the subject. I believe it's sharper too, but that only matters if you want a really big print. One advantage is not enough to make it preferable to XC, rather the difference lies in the combination of many small advantages. However, there are still times when the noticeably lighter weight and smaller size of the X-E2 + XC16-50mm is preferable, so I'll stick with both.
