I won't say it's useless - because there's a zapper, it's just the smallest zapper. It's quite small and doesn't attract bugs, you really need to use true white light to attract them. Well, as far as white lights go, it's an all or nothing situation - meaning all 4 are on or not on at all. When all 4 are lit, it glows very bright! So much. So I left it on a couple of nights and put something underneath, an outside tall cabinet, hoping I'd see a bunch of dead bugs. no luck - for 3 nights and i promise there are many bugs. There were a few buggies in the buzzer area so there were at least a few, but nothing compared to the number I was hoping to eliminate. Bottom line - if you need light it's really good brightness. If you need a bug trap I'd probably look for something with a larger area of the actual buzzer.
