Works great but an English manual would be nice

I had a lot of fun with this thing and tested every USB power adapter/charger and cable I could get my hands on. Surprisingly, many of them work pretty poorly. This device will help eliminate them. I scowl at all inferior things! The only criticism is that the instructions are only in Chinese. The default display is also Chinese, but six button presses change it to English. Despite the lack of an English manual, it's pretty obvious what most of the features do. A few different notes: 1) With this device you can test the charger by plugging it directly into it, but you can also plug a cable into one of the ports on the back (the side opposite the screen). How to test cables after testing the charger they are connected to. 2) There are two micro USB ports on the back panel. One is for testing cables and the other is just for powering the device, regardless of the device under test. The power connector on the far left (screen faces you). It's rare that you'll need to independently power a device, but the option is there if you want to. Be careful not to mix up the two ports or it will not work as expected. 3) I wasn't sure if the QC 3 test function works properly, but it works. Assuming your charger supports it, the QC 2 will switch between different voltage levels (5, 9, etc.) in large increments and it's obvious what's going on. QC 3 allows the device to select the voltage level in much more detail. So if you're using a small QC tester in combination with it, you'll need to watch the voltage reading closely as you press the up or down buttons - it only changes within very small limits. increases as you press the keys. Knead them several times and you will notice a noticeable change in tension. 4) I have compared the voltage reading to the voltage measured by my decent quality multimeter and they were always within a few hundredths of a volt of each other so I assume the voltage readings can be trusted.

Pros
  • Try it for a year
Cons
  • Hard to tell
