After three months of dry, wet and snowy weather I'm not sure if the extra tread is worth the extra weight. I bought these shoes because I run very rocky trails and wanted something that would really grip in a variety of conditions. Unfortunately, being a fairly thick sole, I lose the ground feel that my other shoes provide, which negates the benefit of the extra grip. I feel like I twist my ankles a little more in them than in other shoes. The extra traction of the outsole also seems to come from the arch support. All this after a long break in operation. The shoes now feel a little more "real" when running than I'm used to.
