Review on Osprey Apogee Men's Laptop Backpack: Ultimate Tech Companion for Modern Professionals by Andrea Sledge

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect modern upgrade for my 11 year old Osprey Momentum 26L!

I have owned an Osprey Momentum 26L backpack for 11 years and take it with me to all activities: international travel, shore excursions, school, work, hiking, camping. The bag has never let me down, it has made me a lifelong Osprey fan. It definitely wears out over the years, so it's time to move on to a replacement. My old Momentum was 26L so I was looking for something comparable but ideally with a little more room and a less outdoor/thin and minimal look. since Momentum has quite a lot of straps around my body. At the same time, I know my style suits anyone, so I really want something I can take to the office as well as on a trip/hike without losing the Osprey feel, which is a brand inherently outdoor activities . I see from this that I take work gear with me when I travel, including a laptop, portable monitors (up to 2) and other devices. So organization, space and protection in one bag is practical. I compared Arcane XL Day (30L), Nebula (34L) and Apogee (28L). I bought Arcane XL and found that it looks too office/school, totally lost its outdoor DNA and I want to remind myself once again that I have an outdoor heart; The nebula is pretty good on paper, but it's a lot bigger and not as thin. Apogee hit the spot. 28L fits my old bag (26L) with 2L more space (you don't even notice it) and the design itself makes it much slimmer and more minimalist: you can detach and loosen the compression straps on both sides. hip belt which I didn't need; The chest strap cannot be removed but can be wrapped around to reduce slouching. The side mesh water bottle pockets are great, you can not only put water bottles in them, but basically anything that can be quickly reached and stowed like cables, receipts, gadgets, accessories, basically these two pockets are great solutions for easy access Things that are not particularly valuable. The top front zip pocket was larger than my old bag which exceeded my expectations. I used the zippered top front pocket in my old bag for my purse, keys, airport pads and a bunch of accessories, so I'm glad the Apogee top front pocket is even more spacious! The front panel was roomy too, with 3 pockets for organization. . It's a bit smaller than my old Momentum and I think it's a good step as I don't need as much front-end space. I think it's intelligent design, more realistic use! I can easily fit my 14" laptop and stash my checkbooks, spare wallet and other documents in my document bag. Plenty of room for other things like clothes, organization cubes etc. I found it easy to transition from the old Momentum 26L to this Apogee 28L as they are comparable in size and design, except the Apogee is the modern Momentum sibling Compression straps and waistbelt tucked away, the bag looks very slim and minimalist while still showing its Osprey DNA, an image I want to keep to myself. Thanks to its slimmer size and back, the bag also holds its shape much better than the Momentum. Speaking of the back panel, I LOVE the mesh back panel, it definitely keeps my back cool on 10+ hour hikes (Grand Canyon Bright Angel Trail there and back from the summit to the Colorado River, Maui Haleakala Crater Trail, Mount Bald). . cool and deep tone.
