First of all my wife has 2 rhythm lessons and it should have been number 3. One hangs in the living room and generally no lights in the room are turned on. The only light comes from the skylight. The second is hanging in the dining room and the lights are all out. Only light comes from the sliding glass door. Those 2 hours work very well in ambient light. Both clocks tick easily in ambient light from sunrise to sunset. And no, they are not exposed to direct sunlight. Bought as a gift for my wife. Looks great! Arrived 3 days early! It's about the end of good. I took it out of the box, put the batteries in and nothing. The batteries were empty. I put new batteries in, but there is no sound. The switch was off (it is normally on when shipped), the volume was at minimum (usually set to the latest possible level) and Christmas tunes were selected for the tune selection (usually in the A position and Christmas tunes in the "C" position) .All of this means it either came out of display packaging or was returned and sold as new.In either case this is a scam.My wife found a spot on the wall above the bookshelf to hang it.It's not a call.He... took it off and held it on his knees. It will ring intermittently. Then he noticed that when he called he had a direct line of sight from the light source to the photo sensor. If I sat with my body between the light source and the watch and cast some sort of shadow on the photo sensor they wouldn't ring.There were 2 lights in the room and an overhead light was on.If I held the clock so it was unobstructed If you pointed it at one of the lights and then held it between the dome light and the sensor to cast a shadow, it didn't ring. We had to find a new location for the watch straight away. over her reading lamp. Overall very disappointed with this purchase, seller and product.
