Review on πŸ’» Lenovo ThinkPad USB 3.0 Docking Station (0A33970): Ultimate Connectivity Hub for Black by Auden Paz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great with Lenovo Helix!

Bought so I can use two displays with my Lenovo Helix and of course it has other benefits (especially extra USB ports). Gigabit ethernet is also apparently supported by the fact that I don't have gigabit internet, so I can't comment on that. Setup: Before connecting the dock to my Helix, I first downloaded the latest driver from Lenovo's website. After installation, I connected the dock via USB (at this point I already had the power, ethernet, and video cables connected to the dock). Some people have mentioned a delay when plugging the wireless mouse receiver into the actual dock. I also had the same experience so I just hooked it up to my Helix. It's ok since the docking station itself has 5 USB ports. Also, there can be confusion when setting up displays for the first time. DO NOT right-click on the desktop to try to adjust the display settings via "Graphics Settings" or "Graphics Options". Only one screen is displayed. Instead, you probably didn't notice the small icon in the lower-right corner, which is an acronym for "Lenovo LinkDisplay Manager." It's basically analogous to "Screen Resolution" but with options you can find in the Intel Graphics Manager. So far, so good. Currently I use it in the following ways: 1. Come home tired.2. Connect my helix to power.3. Connect Dock to Helix via USB cable (While Helix is in closed mode, but if you leave it open you can have up to 3 screens! [including built-in display])4. Plug the Logitech wireless receiver into a different USB port on my Helix.5. So have fun, that whole wireless receiver is the bare minimum, but then again it's not a problem. I *HEARD* that you can get it working if you keep pushing it with the USB extender, but I haven't tried it. However, I just wanted to write this review to balance the reviews as I have had wonderful experiences with this setup and was very skeptical about the purchase at first. AGAIN, that's with Lenovo Helix. I can't speak for experiences with other computers.
