Purpose of purchasing this unit was to monitor the voltage in the car but still be able to use the cigar lighter socket for the XM radio. Recently, after dark, I was driving on a minor highway in Montana when it started to rain. It became very difficult to see the highway. I turned on the wipers and watched them move VERY SLOWLY from side to side. This told me that my battery was almost empty and the charging system was not working. I checked the dashboard for anything that indicated I had a problem. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Shortly thereafter, the "battery" light came on, and less than a mile down the freeway, the car stalled. (WITHOUT BATTERY / hazard lights) I bought it for voltage display to monitor the charging system while driving. The display is very difficult to see at night when parking and cannot be seen day or night.
