Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but when I put my Rift on it the plastic was very close to the lenses. I was too worried that if I bumped into it the plastic would rub against the lenses and scratch them so I ended up sending it back. Even though I had it, it seemed very stable in terms of weight distribution. It was pretty easy to put together. The plastic was ordinary plastic, nothing special. There were no protective elements on it, it was solid plastic. I was surprised it was just as well balanced considering how light it is. The size was pretty good, doesn't take up too much space. Since I'm using a ceiling system I just added a tie between the foam on top of the head and added the tie to that tie so there is a small loop that I just hang from one of the hooks on the ceiling. I folded a piece of duct tape/vinyl tape and placed it between the zipper and the headband to reduce wear/friction (see image). It would be handy to have something on the table, maybe I'll look for more in the future.
