Review on LG 32UN650-W 32-Inch 3840x2160P Borderless Monitor with Adaptive Sync, Anti-Glare Screen, High Dynamic Range (HDR) by Michael Ford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I love these monitors!

I just bought two of these monitors - one for me and one for my wife. I've been using mine for about a week and she uses hers all day. The monitors connect to Windows 10 computers using Display Port 1.4 cables. Pros: - Nice bright picture - No dead pixels (a few initially, see note below) - 4k is much better than 1080p. Even when I'm a few inches from the screen, I have a hard time making out a single pixel. Minimal backlight blur. Very bright (I have a brightness of about 30%, a brightness of 50% hurts my eyes) The built-in speakers with a power of 5 W are decent. Built-in speakers are the main reason I chose LG over other brands. LG please keep up the good work. 7 watt speakers would be even better. With no soundbar/speakers required, my setup stays clean with minimal wires. So far I've been able to play at high settings, 4k, 60Hz with a 1080 Ti, in some games I've tried. However, I plan to switch to the current-gen card in the near future. All games display correctly on a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor, not an ultrawide monitor. I used to have a 29 inch ultra wide screen and when a game took up the entire screen it was random. Cons: The stand is so-so and this is my biggest complaint so far. It is mainly made of plastic with an aluminum interior on the base. The monitor shakes a bit when I type. I would easily pay LG $200 more for a monitor with a solid all-metal stand. I know there's a 32UN880-B with a solid metal stand, but it's a clip stand and I can't attach the stand to a table. I'll probably get aftermarket replacements. - The power cord is very short (only 5 feet) and barely reaches my extension cord. Miscellaneous: - HDR not tried yet. I will update the rating when I look at it. Supplied with white HDMI and Displayport cables. I didn't use the included display port cable. Instead, I bought a reputable Displayport 1.4 cable online. In fact, I prefer the white back of the monitor. I originally wanted an all black monitor but the white doesn't stand out that much against my light colored walls and I found that I prefer it. My wife had a dead pixel. The black dots were jet-black splinters statically attached to the screen. Overall I am very happy with these monitors. My complaints about the so-so stand and short power cord are minor, and both can be replaced. The panel is what I bought this monitor for. The wife loves hers and is already considering buying a second one.
