I don't play much, so I can't solve problems like freesync problems. I can see how a matte screen can be too reflective and distracting in a foggy way. So if you have a very bright light source behind you, you could have problems with this display. I use this with a Google Pixel Slate and a Dell XPS 17 as an external monitor, as well as my PS4 (FHD). While the overall experience was good, there are some puzzling omissions. Were very happy with it. I've tested HDMI so far, but DP digital works too. Windows originally set it up as a generic PnP monitor or something. You need to download the driver from LG website and then update the monitor in Device Manager to use it (use Have Disk). Why this doesn't happen automatically on Windows 10 is beyond me. I was oddly obsessed with HDR color quality, to the point where I spent hours tweaking with MadVR and various Windows players. Getting the software right is a real challenge, but once you get the hang of it, this monitor will blow your mind. 10-bit color and wide dynamic range make watching movies a whole new experience, and the wide aspect ratio is perfect.

I had to send the first one back because of dead pixels. So allow enough time and just be patient if you need to do the same. The effort for a return is worth it. Never before has an IPS screen had such poor viewing angles and uniformity. The left and right sides of the screen have a very noticeable vignetting effect that is different from the rest of the screen. You have to sit right in front of the sides for the effect to go away. Invalid for "calibrated" monitor. Anything that contains blocks of one color like web pages, office documents, etc. will drive you insane with the shadows cast on your work. BTW, the manual doesn't mention what setting it was

I bought two to use with a 2018 15" MacBook Pro. I use an external docking station and control them via HDMI. They work very well. The only thing that was difficult was getting consistent colors and speed from to get a laptop, but that has nothing to do with monitors, they worked for 7 months without any problems.

Pros - High quality graphics. Bright monitor - Adjustable stand. No stand or shake issues - many preset display options. Makes life easier. Easy to adjust - LG monitors are very reliable.

Before that I bought a Dell Curved Monitor. It was Wa's screen. The picture was flat and the colors weren't sharp at all. But this LG Ips display was ahead by leaps and bounds. Well!

I originally bought the LG UN500. It appeared defective with lines on the sides and poor viewing angles. I returned it and bought the above model. It's day and night. No one should buy the VA version unless playing games or watching videos

I originally installed this monitor with a MacBook Pro using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable. However, the connected monitor was significantly worse, since the display was very dark at 100% brightness and some features were missing. I then tried an HDMI cable through a Belkin USB-C hub and it got noticeably brighter and other features kicked in. I don't know if the USB-C to Displayport cable is bad quality or if it's just a Displayport issue, but I almost got the monitor back
