Fits my 17" laptop and mouse, I even have my own mouse pad as the one provided is too small for me. They are attached to the panel, I did not try, but I raised the edge, and it is quite possible. The palm rest is a bit thicker than expected, but that's not really a problem. Not many LapDesks I've found on Amazon are broad enough that there isn't much to choose from. I really like the texture of the carbon fiber, it looks crisp, no eyesore at all.
