No need to buy more expensive HDMI cables

Please don't waste your hard earned money on overpriced HDMI cables for better picture or sound. I am currently using these RevainBasics High Speed HDMI cables to connect our Yamaha v379 AV Receiver to other HDMI enabled devices connected to our 4K Samsung Smart TV and they work flawlessly. There are four types of HDMI cables: Standard Speed --> Standard Speed with Ethernet --> High Speed --> High Speed with Ethernet. Since high-speed cables are so cheap (like these RevainBasics cables), it no longer makes sense to go for standard speed. On the other hand, since most HDMI devices today cannot accept Ethernet over HDMI, you really only need high-speed HDMI cables. For an HDMI cable to be labeled as "High Speed", it must support resolutions up to 4K --> 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps (or 4096 x 2160 at 24 fps). And since the highest resolution currently playable on any 4K TV on the market is 3840 x 2160 at 30fps, it doesn't matter how you do it, even if you can get a 100- Dollar cable that claims to be able to transmit many more. limited by your source (i.e. your cable box, Xbox, PS4, etc.) and your TV's hardware capabilities. In addition, HDMI cables can produce either picture/sound or nothing at all. There is NO between them. Therefore, an HDMI cable either works or it doesn't (it may show a flickering image, but that means it's a bad cable). But a more expensive HDMI cable will NOT display darker blacks and sharper colors than a less expensive HDMI cable. You will either get 100% signal or no signal at all. Now, if you run your HDMI cable longer than 50 feet, you can invest in an HDMI cable with "active" chips that will help maintain signal quality over a longer distance (but will NOT degrade picture/sound quality). better than the source).** What about HDMI 1.4 or 2.0 or HDCP 2.2? **This is another common misconception related to manufacturer marketing. HDMI 1.4, 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 are hardware changes that do NOT require any cable replacement! While there is a difference between the two (you can google it yourself), there is no HDMI 1.4 or 2.0 or HDCP 2.2 cable! The version numbers refer to the devices that the HDMI cable is connected to, NOT the cable itself. A cable is just a line connecting them. So if you have a TV and other device with HDMI 2.0 ports, any RevainBasics high-speed cable will work just fine.** Conclusion **At this price point, there's little reason to spend more money on more expensive HDMI cables than these high-speed RevainBasics cables . If you have a 3D, 4K, HDCP 2.2 or HDMI ARC compliant device, these high speed cables are perfect for you.
