Heating pad warms very well. My other warmer only keeps a full cup lukewarm and warms better with less liquid. However, it keeps a whole cup of coffee hot. The glass top is a plus; While other metal plate heating pads will scratch paint with coffee mugs, this is not the case. While this heating pad has some great features, I have a few safety issues so I can't rate it higher. Cons #1: The top is completely flat and smooth, making the mug very easy to slide. turn off and spill. You'll need to redesign this with a small rim around the hot spot to keep the cups from slipping. Cons #2: The heater's only on/off switch is the bottom pressure sensor. Don't get me wrong, I love the pressure sensor and that's why I bought it, but it ALSO needs to have a separate switch to make sure it's off and stays off. If you have it lying around somewhere and not using it, then someone else can easily not pay attention and put something on the heating pad (e.g. a magazine) and then you have fire in your hands! Sure you can unplug it every time, but it's a pain when your fork is uncomfortable. I would NOT gift this to the elderly or anyone not known for being wary of fire hazards.
