They are functional, but hardly.
These plugs work well when crimped. Their insulation is not easily broken, allowing you to achieve a strong crimp while still protecting the wire. However, they are ONLY suitable for 14 gauge wire. Many times I had to re-insert 14 gauge wire because the hole was big enough to fit under. A slightly larger hole would have made this a lot easier!
