I have bought at least 4 of these coils to use with Pertronix ignition converters. Two of them have failed in the last 4 months. None lasted 6 months. Coils get very hot and fail. I have no idea what's going on inside. Laboratory tests showed a very weak, intermittent spark, although the coils have the correct resistance - a primary winding of 3-4 ohms. secondary approx. 9 kOhm. I suspect that the high voltage is shorted to the chassis inside. Once they were good coils, not anymore! I replaced the first bug with a Pertronix 3 ohm flamethrower coil, the second bug, on the boat I installed the coil and resistor I removed to install the Bosch Blue coil. The coil I reinstalled was an Accel Super Stock with a ballast resistor. I would avoid this role like the plague. Other 3ohm coil options are the Beru coil and using a normal coil like an Accel superstock with a ballast resistor or of course a 3ohm Pertronix flamethrower coil. I'm beginning to think that putting a ballast resistor (like Bosch, Beru and Pertronix Flamethrower 3ohm) in the coil is not a good idea as this will only heat up the coil and heat can lead to premature failure.
