It's not the smoothest of tools, but I sprayed it with silicone and it helped the tip rotate. I think that with use any roughness will become smooth. The hex tip is a little deep to accommodate the included double-ended short bits, so regular short bits go too deep. They stick out far enough to be useful but are about to disappear into the hole. Bits with a longer shank work well. The handle offers space for bits and a pair of (future) drill bits. My old one had 3 bits with traditional Yankee screwdriver shanks as well as screwdriver bits. But it was difficult to get specific advice. The hex tip setup should allow me to use different bits, but I have to buy hex base drill bits to get full functionality. There is a "weakness" or slight twist in the shank when using a regular screwdriver. but it's not bad, and it's as good or even better than my old Yankee screwdriver. Once I accept/remember it's there, I compensate very little and only use it for the last spin. Overall I really like it and it might be the first screwdriver I reach for. In general I like them a lot.
