Review on Walkie-talkie Baofeng UV-82 (2 power modes) by Anand Anand ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best purchase in my life, I will definitely buy it again.

It was decided to purchase a set of two radio stations in order to solve two different categories of problems: communication while at sea (inside the ship + backup), and negotiating while on set. As a result of these factors, a dual-band VHF and UHF radio was decided upon. The supplied headset is not very comfortable and does not produce a loud enough volume, but it is enough for use in environments with moderate levels of ambient noise. The PMR frequency range enables you to carry out your task almost without breaking the law; the power is marginally greater than the standard, but this is not a deal breaker. Because of the significant surplus of power, LPD is almost completely pointless. FRS: USA; this abbreviation is not yet in use. The apparatus worked wonderfully when it was out at sea. Even when the sailing vessel is propelled by a diesel engine, the station can be heard clearly because to its convenient location next to the steering wheel. The external connections of the battery on one radio corroded after it spent several hours standing in a pool of sea water; yet, the radio continued to function normally despite the fact that electrolysis was the likely culprit. Salt spray, ranging from a moderate amount to none at all at other times. It is quite advantageous to be able to listen to both VHF16 and the internal channel that has been assigned for communication throughout the fleet at the same time. When on land, switching to PMR is a simple process. Overall, a really high-quality piece of hardware, and the price more than makes up for any deficiencies. Although it could make more sense to invest in more expensive equipment for more regular and extensive use, the radios that I have been using have been serving my purposes very well.

Pros
  • It is possible to utilize the VHF, PMR, LPD, and FRS bands in a lot of different nations throughout the world with very little to no risk of breaking the law. Strong speaker volume and understandability of the speaker's speech. User-friendly UI, as well as the capacity to flash channels utilizing CHIRP. Operation can take place simultaneously on both channels if desired. Protection against splashes. Excellent dependability. Price.
Cons
  • a battery with a low capacity. The basic antennas are somewhat feeble, but taking the proportions into account, this is to be expected. The headset is not of very high quality.
