I use them for outdoor accent lighting. Regular LED strings are very difficult to change, and if one LED fails or has a bad connection, the entire string section will fail, requiring you to start pulling on individual ones to find the problem. Because they run on 120 volts, the fairy lights have two wires instead of three. If one bulb burns out, it doesn't affect the others and is easy to replace. In addition, they last much longer than conventional lamps. When it's windy and ordinary lightbulbs are overblown, the filament inside the lightbulb breaks easily. These are LEDs so there is no thin filament. To me it's worth the extra cost compared to other types of string lights. A lot of money is saved in the long term, and a lot of time and effort is spent on troubleshooting.
