This unit looks well built and solid and has the features I was looking for. The measurements are easy to read and I particularly like the analogue line display along with the digital display. The device comes with good written basic instructions that explain the various functions. (This is a rarity in today's world). There are also A- and C-weighted dB measurements that are easy to use. After inserting four AAA batteries (not included), turn on the device and it will start reading data. If you see "greater than" or "less than" simply press the up or down button until you are in the correct range to get an accurate reading. It has a max hold button to easily see what the max audio level is. It has a fast or slow button to show instant or average dB readings. It also has a sone button that lets you adjust the perceived loudness of a sound such as B. a bathroom fan can determine. When buying such a fan, the volume is usually specified as a sone level. Overall a very good device that feels like a professional device that costs many times more. However, it has no logging output and is a portable device only. Well worth the money and I'm glad I chose this one although I took a chance because there were no reviews when I bought it.
