I cannot comment on the usefulness of this product as a monitor stand as I did not use it for this one purpose but it works great (both in terms of utility and aesthetics) as a stand for my small computer tower It was very easy to assemble, strong enough to hold the tower lightly and more importantly, it doesn't slip if I need to move or raise the tower for any reason. Its height on each of the three tiers is great for ventilation and the fact that there are holes in the stand's "table" allows for even better ventilation. Given the size of the riser, I think it will work well even for a single 27-inch monitor; it's certainly sufficiently strong for that. So yes, I would recommend it for both the purposes I use it for (emphasis on the SMALL tower) and as a monitor stand.
