I didn't expect the quality to be so high.

Don't go for expensive zooms, especially if you're new to SLR photography. Take a couple of fixes and you will understand that before that you did not shoot, but indulged. With whale lenses on DX DSLRs, you will not get anything like what you can get on fast optics. I recommend to all!
Its pros:
great picture, great shots in low light. Portraits are just great. The price is ridiculous for such a result.
With its cons.
Inaccurate focus sometimes. But this is not a disadvantage for such money.
