Review on ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ 1080P USB to VGA Adapter: Multi-Display Video Converter for Laptop Desktop PC to Monitor, Projector, TV (excluding Chromebook and MacBook) by Paul Randall

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You need to install drivers. It's very fast. (Download online if you don't have the CD)

My laptop only has 1 HDMI port but I really wanted to add a second monitor. An HDMI splitter was out of the question as they only mirror/duplicate the screen (i.e. display the exact same screen on both monitors), not extend the screen. I already have a VGA to VGA cable and decided to try this USB to VGA adapter. Surprisingly, it really worked! And I can extend another screen to my second monitor perfectly! Also, my VGA cable screws into this adapter perfectly, so there's no risk of it getting disconnected. NOT PLUG AND PLAY. First you need to install the drivers, which only takes a minute (it's just under 8MB). The package includes a small CD for you to insert, but there's also a leaflet with a website address if you don't have a CD drive. It's really simple and understandable. If you're lazy, it's just frescologic.com. Click on the support link and you will see all driver download links. I used the "USB 3.0 to VGA/DVI/HDMI Driver (Windows)" version. In fact, I hurried and connected everything before installing the driver. After installation I had to unplug and plug the USB adapter back in, but it worked great! I didn't even have to restart my computer! I'm sick of the driver EXE but it's actually legal and virus free for the one you get straight from the Fresco Logic website. I personally hadn't tried the CD and wasn't sure I was ready to trust it. Admittedly, I'm just too cautious. The USB 3.0 port gives you access to a stunning resolution of 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz. USB 2.0 delivers a lousy resolution of 800 x 600 @ 60Hz. Choose wisely.
