The corner where the two interfaces meet is beveled down and back on the wall. This ensures that the weight of the hung object always presses it firmly against the wall, acting just like a french plank. I understand, but what if the wall mount pops out a bit? Then the top flange can slip behind the counter flange and that can be catastrophic. The metal-to-metal interface is made of smooth aluminum, only 5/32 inch thick. I would have preferred the two pieces to interlock securely and not rely on a wall restricting movement with such a tiny interface. I am concerned that the item I will be hanging will have working parts that the wall mounts may loosen over time, especially when attached to 1/2 inch thick drywall. I've made many French cleats that work this way without a single break, but the interface is much wider and I leave the wood rough and unpolished to allow some friction between the two cleats so the top cleat can't easily slip behind the bottom.
