Ideal for mounting behind a wall mounted TV. You will need to cut a 7-1/8" x 7-1/4" hole in the wall. This allows you easy access to stick your hand in the wall to pull out the wires. Please note that the device is not attached to any bolts. In fact, the left side of the device should be about 3 inches to the right of the stud (see image). This is because the AC electrical box is protruding from behind the wall to the left of the unit. The AC outlet is a regular outlet, this model does not have surge protection or ground fault protection (other models have surge protection). If you want to add surge protection, the Belkin SurgeCube 1 Outlet Surge Protector is a simple and affordable solution. It fits well (but covers one of the sockets) (see picture).
