I needed to replace my lift pump with a Liberty 2" 1/2 HP so I decided to replace the check valve as well. The old check valve was a ball valve and when the pump finished its cycle, a water column The old valve "slammed shut" and you could hear the resulting "boom" throughout the house Brady Accessory? ), easily installs into my existing plumbing and each time the Campbell check valve has worked well and quietly.The valve inside the body is a spring loaded "tip" type that is mounted at an angle.This allows the valve to close a little slower and more controlled than a traditional ball valve so the water column does not "hit" when the pump stops. This Campbell valve was installed under 8 feet of 2" PVC until it reaches the main sewer line , so that when the pump stops, the direction of a sufficiently large column of water is reversed. I have to say the Campbell Quietsewage check valve does a great job here.
