The barbs are too small for 5/8 hose, the smallest diameter of the barb should be 5/8 and the barb should be greater than 5/8. These have the largest diameter of the barb at 5/8 The barb does not bite into the hose and a clamp will not seal it any better than a strait piece of 5/8 pipe or tube.Net result is the fitting leaks.

Well made brass barbed hose union works perfectly and looks well made. Seems to be high quality brass, but of course I don't have the laboratory to determine that with any specificity.Barbs are well made for both ease of assembly and for holding the hoses in place.

They work but are not good quality. The clamps failed while tightening enough to hold. The barbed section is too short to really go far enough into the hose to work well. Not good quality.

This seems to be a good brand for fittings. We have quite a few that work for water, air, etc. They do a good job of sitting tight on the connection tightly. We've had no issues with leaking. They do great for our greenhouse water project, and that's one that I've wanted so long that I'm excited that it is working as expected with no issues! It feels like plastic. I'm not convinced it is brass. Maybe an alloy. Definitely had to push the barb in tight but it makes a watertight seal for a garden hose.

I used this hose barb to repair my 120’ garden hose. I had a couple of hose clamps laying around and in less than 10 minutes my hose was as good as new for a fraction of the price of replacing it. It seems to be well constructed. It should last for quite a while.

A brass barb connector. Works well, does not rust or leak. For the smallish pressure that I have in the hose I used this on, I put a hose clamp on to give some extra strength, but I am not sure I need that. Better safe than sorry!It has been in place for about a month, and not a single drip has dropped.

Slip fit in my garden hose. Expect lots of clamping and tape buildup. How smart do have to be to know it has to be stretched to seal? Actual OD is 0.770, theoretical 0.020 stretch. This should be 2 -3 times that, about 0.050" to work properly. Disappointed.

We use these to repair sprinklers and hoses. The brass are stronger than the aluminum ones and don't need hose clamps unless you're using full pressure. These have sharp barbs and well-machined.

The fittings are good for the price but plan on buying more hose clamps. Half were either broke or broke while trying to tighten

Not much to say about this connector other than it works well. The build quality is very good, the sizing is true, and it has a nice heft to it. It's much more durable than the plastic connectors I have been using especially in the cold. Solid value for the price.
