Review on Shoei Neotec II Helmet (X-Small) (Light Silver) by Jeremy Monroe

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Expected more from a $700 helmet

On the plus side it's a nice helmet, it's fairly quiet and comfortable out of the shield. The chin trigger could be better hidden, but at least it's easy to reach with gloves. I have no idea what "thickness" we should rate? Replacement shields are expensive, and the more appealing chromatic are hard to go beyond the direct Shoei. Worst of all, the shield bars are very weak. You cannot drive with the shield open, at speeds over 50 km/h the shield will close due to the wind force. The ventilation system is the same as most helmets, in other words, it's useless; You can't tell the difference if the vents are open or closed. So opening the shield is the only way to make it more convenient when it gets hot here in the desert of the Southwest United States. If Arai ever makes a modular helmet I will switch to it immediately. My cheap ILM helmet would be better if it wasn't so loud.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
