This product is at least stylistically designed to work with Acer laptops, although it can be used elsewhere if you know the host Port you need to select from your PC. Acer mentions which of its PCs the 'docking station' is compatible with, which is a plus if you're an Acer customer and not sure which host ports are compatible. The prices are high. Oddly, manufacturers seem to be removing ports from laptops and putting them on hubs - with less convenience (due to more things to carry around) but lowering the cost of the laptop accordingly. There is a family of VESA form factor PCs that cost about the same as this docking station. In contrast, Acer's 135W PSU dock offers more bang for your buck. It worked well with my Dell XPS laptop with ethernet support (almost full gigabit) and an external portable monitor, which thankfully supported HDMI.
