I got a couple of these a few months ago to see how well they work. I've had a lot of experience with original Radio Shack tips and I know they fail quickly if misused. The main rule is to tin the kettle, especially a new one. (Years ago, with a real Radio Shack tip, I learned that if it wasn't tinned at all, it would break in just a few hours.) The one I've been using for the past few months is still fine and I am still ok to use it. The tip seems to have worn down a bit (evenly), making the hole a bit larger (and reducing suction), but otherwise no issues. That was normal for Radio Shack advice. Meanwhile, RS tips sometimes had a notch on one edge that interfered with intake. If it does, you can write it down to prolong the life of the junk work, but you should use the new tip if you have "important" work to do.
