I bought two of these and intend to use them for cooling purposes only (I currently live in Southeast Asia where it's always hot). I froze the earbuds on a tray overnight and then carried them in an insulated bag for the three hour drive. When we arrived at our destination, there was a puddle of "water” at the bottom of the thermal bag. Upon closer inspection, the "water" smelled of something reminiscent of Elmer's white glue. and one of the LavaSeats got soaked when I took it out of my pocket. When we got home later that day, I weighed both earbuds - one weighed over 900 grams and the other just over 680 grams, plus the plastic coating was very flimsy. This was our first assignment. On the plus side, the cases are of good quality and appear to be well constructed. I'll give the covers a 5/5 and the inserts a 0/5. Overall 2.5/5. I intend to purchase replacement inserts from the manufacturer's website. Update January 24, 2017 I have used the new "Heavy Duty" micro-inserts in place of the old ones and I am benefiting greatly from the Lava seat. currently. I use it as a daily heating pad in my fur bed. I placed two reinforced heating pads in the Lava seat cover, wrapped it in a waterproof pillowcase, and then in a cotton pillowcase. The kit makes an excellent pillow replacement for the Midwest Quiet Time U-design capsule. It keeps my pet warm from sleep until the next morning.
