These lights will not work on standard batteries. Too bad I didn't pay attention to the review that pointed this out before purchasing. Everything in my house that requires batteries uses batteries. Each requires 3 batteries, and I won't throw 6 batteries in the trash on a regular basis. Edit: I have found that real 1.5 volt AA rechargeable batteries will work in this lamp. So far I've only found one company that sells them - EBL 3300mWh 1.5V AA batteries. The bad news is that they cost almost as much as the lamps themselves for a 4-pack, despite being high-priced. I won't revise my review as I see VERY few devices that don't work with standard batteries. Most flashlights are brighter than these bulbs and don't have this problem.
