Update: 2/23/20 I was able to get a replacement battery at the Apple Store for $99. Our repair work was of sufficient quality to pass an Apple Store review and qualify for $99 battery service. Please note that after the repair we continued to have intermittent issues with LTE and the iPad had occasional crashing issues. We can't say for sure that this is due to the screen replacement, but we think so. The new iPad is great. We were able to install it and the 1st gen iPad Air worked great after the repair. My wife and I worked on it and turned an extremely difficult task into something simply difficult. You must work slowly and patiently. Some problems: At first there were no instructions. However, there are many great videos on YouTube, but be careful as many of the guides are out of date. This screen has a home button installed, many videos talk about removing the home button from the old screen and installing it on the new screen. This makes a big difference in how it works. The best video I found is from the icracked.com website. Please note that one of the four screws that secure the LCD screen is longer. The long screw must be re-inserted in the same hole! We had an issue where a small portion of the screen just below the connection cables didn't adhere well to the case. We believe we did not remove the short piece of adhesive backing that may have caused this issue. Please make sure all the adhesive film has been removed from the entire screen. The home button connection cable was loose on our screen, which is different from the cracked video. A piece of adhesive backing had to be removed to reveal the tape on the back of the home button cable. We then glued the cable's tape to the surface of the screen. After the repair, we found a computer program to test the iPad battery, which was only 55% of the capacity of the new iPad. If we had known this beforehand, we would have installed a new battery when disassembling the device. live and learn Finally, after everything was assembled, we only got a 3G cell signal. Turning it off and on didn't help. However, a hard reset (pressing the home button and turning on/off for a few seconds) restored the LTE signal. That was a great relief as we thought we might damage something. Good luck with your repair!
