I bought this monitor as someone looking to re-enter the ultrawide market - my first monitor while moving house decided it no longer wanted to work. Tragically, it was a three year old X35 with a resolution of 2560x1080. I knew it was going to be expensive but based on reviews from some of the tech youtubers I saw I decided to pull the trigger instead of the Predator X35 as it was a couple hundred cheaper and the main downside was HDR400 was. plus HDR1000 on Predator - more on HDR later. My overall impression is that if you have the money it's worth it, but if not I would suggest something at a lower price. There's a 34-inch variant of this monitor that has 3440 x 1440 resolution, HDR, and most of the same features for about half the size of this monitor. unlike traditional 21:9 or 32:9 ultrawide monitors that offer slightly more vertical screen real estate at 3840 x 1600. Typically, the 35-inch monitors it competes with run at 3440 x 1440. It's not a huge difference, but it helps improve performance. This ad is AWESOME. The bezels are harmless, and the light ring on the back is pretty easy to set up (or turn off). ) and gets REALLY bright. HDR looks fantastic (assuming you know what settings to use, more on the other side). The included stand is hefty but doesn't take up all of my space or have an overwhelming gamer aesthetic. I have a monitor arm so I don't use the stand that comes with it, but I wouldn't mind using it if I couldn't use the arm. - I/O is fairly standard - HDMI and Displayport with a built in USB hub. You must use a USB hub if you want to control the RGB software from your PC. It has some great features and a few modes that aren't available through the OSD.- Includes everything you need. All display and USB input cables are included, and the packaging isn't as bulky as other ultrawide monitors. Cons: 24:10 aspect ratio. may reset some games that normally support ultrawide and result in small black bars on the left and right of the screen. I don't notice it in game, but it's definitely in some big games like Call of Duty. This isn't LG's fault, but be aware that this isn't a very common aspect ratio. While the monitor officially supports 144Hz and 175Hz (when overclocked), there are some pretty significant trade-offs. Chroma subsampling and corona can become quite a problem if the response time is too fast or the refresh rate is set to 175. This can also impact HDR performance. The optimal frequency for me is 120 Hz, the response time is set to "fast" with activated HDR (10 bits per channel, YCbCr444). HDR is disabled. I can go all the way up to 144, but that can be hard to get to even with a 2080ti in modern AAA games. Microsoft is terrible with HDR on Windows, so I usually turn it off outside of games. HDR400 is slightly dimmer than HDR1000 on competing monitors. It still looks amazing and I agree 100% with it, but if you want the best HDR experience, this isn't it, boss. This display comes at a high price. I don't think it's totally unreasonable given the range of features, but I think they really need to step up the marketing for this so people know what they're getting into with the different modes, HDR. Settings etc. - It's 2020 and this monitor does not have an internal power supply. I realize this would add weight to an already pretty hefty monitor, but come on, the power supply on this thing is a real rock. I used a few command strips to pin it to the bottom of my desk and forgot about it, but it frustrates me that I had to do it at all.
