We're back from winter in a bird's nest (lint keeps the flap open) in our gas dryer vent with a faulty high-temp limit thermostat. I thought I cleaned the second floor dryer opening (4 in. hard aluminum, about 15 feet, up, through the ceiling and through the wall, two elbows), but the dryer still wasn't working properly. 5 minutes later the amazing pile of fluff plus remnants of the nest (go down the stairs first) deflated in 10 minutes in the air listening to the burner fire as I write this. Our 1998 Kenmore dryer is like new again! The hardest part was lugging everything up the stairs with a drill and assembling it piece by piece as I walked. It's not very easy to get the dryer out and work from that end. Run the drill right, remove any small caps from the nylon rods on the floor (or easier access to the dryer) and don't settle for the annual vent cleaning Recommended product if you have a long vent you need it.
