Review on ๐ŸŒก๏ธ HiLetgo MAX6675 Thermocouple Temperature Arduino: Precise Temperature Monitoring for Arduino Projects by Tropingzz Cece

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Acceptable quality is good for temperature sensors

This is a pretty good little thermocouple. Once connected and with the MAX6675 library it works fine. Because of the chipset, they really update the data every 300ms and read it in 0.25C increments. You can conduct a difficult survey, you just won't get any new value from it. It looks like the thermocouple itself is almost dead. Immersing the tip in ice water reveals a low temperature of -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Heated with a lighter, it reaches 300F. I didn't go any further. The project really needs about 250F. In temperature changing applications, there is usually a much greater delay in temperature change. 0.25ยฐC increments is much better than the accuracy you get over the full range. Unfortunately, when I ran it in a real application, the thermocouple failed after a few minutes. Twisting the wire would sometimes get it working again within seconds, but that's about it. So most likely a broken wire. Others have said that the thermocouple itself is of very poor quality. I would have to agree. I've exposed it to extreme thermal conditions, but have been careful with the physical probe. If you buy this expect to have to replace the thermocouple. However, the MAX6675 still seems to work great and is easy to replace. I'm lowering my rating anyway.
