I don't know if it is water resistent. I don't pee the bed and don't spill drinks. I washed it in warm water and dried it on delicate cycle. It dried easily. My mattress is 11" high and I ordered the size 9-12". I was really worried it wouldn't fit but due to it's stretch it did fit tightly and I could close the zipper. If your mattress is more than 11", order the next size up.
