I did A LOT of research before purchasing the kit as I saw a lot of bad reviews which seem to be related to a lack of knowledge on how to use, what to expect etc. I know there are many lists of these shades, but I will share my steps to success with these lip shades. peel! I cannot stress enough how important this step is! Take a medium-soft toothbrush, wet it, and gently rub every inch of your lips to remove as much dead skin as possible. This will make the final color more even and allow your lips to take on more shadows. After scrubbing, gently dry your lips and apply a minimal amount of lip balm to them. I use Chapstick Moisturizer/Original (blue tube). This will also keep your lips a little moisturized after cleansing at the same time, but will make you feel more comfortable during the drying phase.3. Apply! Now they come in a fun little tube and it's pretty weird getting that goo on your lips so get ready it's like nothing you've put on your lips before. I found that letting gravity do most of the work and only slightly tightening my lower lip was quite effective. For the top, make sure the tube is facing down, apply some pressure, then flip to apply. Since the slime is quite slippery, it will fall to the back of the tube and you'll have to squeeze forever to push the piece out of the tip unless you catch it at the end first. Don't be crazy about sharp lines, it doesn't matter to the end result. Just try to cover the entire lip in a layer of medium thickness, paying attention to the cupid's bow as the only place you should try to be really neat. Don't apply it too far into your mouth, you might be able to help, it's a little odd and might stain your gums if you leave it there. *Warning, this smells really strong. It's not a bad smell by any means (at least to me). It was quite sweet and a bit chemical, just like regular lipstick smells like something chemically powdery. But it's strong, and holding it on your lips by lifting your nose for 10 minutes might be too much. So be careful if you are smell sensitive and make sure you have a fan or something to help you* 4. Now the hardest part, leave it alone for at least 10 minutes! I didn't let my first try sit long enough and it didn't discolor or peel as intended. I've found the best results around the 15-20 minute mark and if you're using lighter colors or want to make sure they last as long as possible I'd recommend the full 20. A lot of the videos I watched during my research phase had girls apply it and then talk while it dried. I don't know what witchcraft it was, but I found it best to cast and then either leave your mouth open so your lips don't touch, or gently close your mouth and then DO NOT MOVE. I tried opening and closing my mouth and ended up having to remove it and start over as my upper and lower lip stuck together and ripped apart in various places. If you close your mouth to dry, wait a little longer as it takes a little longer to dry where your lips meet. Just make yourself comfortable and then relax for a while. TV, read a book, surf the internet. Be careful with anything that can evoke strong emotions with your mouth ;-)5. Clean up and clean up! When the time is up, gently touch your lips with your fingers to ensure they look dry and shiny. Now that it's dry it can be removed. Open your mouth, just run your fingernail along the corner of your lip and get to work. Slowly pull the lip off and repeat on the other lip. If you have your mouth closed, then simply pucker your mouth a little and open your mouth to remove one lip and the rest with your hand. There may be small streaks/spots that can be removed if your coat was a little thin or spotted, but a soft, damp cloth or paper towel will remove them with no problem either. Wiping your lips with a damp cloth will also prevent the tiny transfer that can happen when you first reveal your freshly made-up lips, so it's a good step to remember. Finally apply some lip balm! Don't be fooled into thinking you can't apply anything else with these tints, you'll just end up with unhappy lips. Apply a balm whenever you feel like it, I think it really helps the color last longer and prevents cracking. I've seen quite a few people add colored gloss over a tint and the look is great if you like lip gloss. Color after peeling and cleansing and the next morning (I applied this color while playing around 7pm and took the picture the next morning around 9am) Hope this helps!
