Review on Efficient Hitch Mount Platform 2-Bike Rack: MAXXHAUL 50027 for Easy Bike Transport by Jack Robi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Sturdy materials but easy-to-install pins and a wide tolerance make this brick look like a dummy

Media could not be loaded. I'm just giving a review with no BS. The materials are a solid thick metal tube but overall the thing is very wobbly due to the mount, the large tolerances from the pin holes, the actual size of the pin not matching the holes exactly, the fact that they are pins. no screws to tighten. Not sure why the review says there is too much detail. It's literally just 4 bars, pins to attach the bars and to attach the wheel. If there are too many pieces it's just laziness (unless you have the missing pieces) And as for the people saying it's weak. It's not flimsy, it's kind of thick square tubing, if someone hits you with it from behind, it'll pierce the front of their car. The weak point is the kingpins and bolts, not the frame, although this makes the hinges the weakest link. Here are the real cons of this rack. It's wobbly because of the way it's put together. Using pins makes assembly incredibly easy, but you can't tighten the frame pieces so they're just loosely held together. The actual metal that connects to the hitch is messy and doesn't wobble as it has an anti-rattle element. But the actual part of the rack is not solid. There is a pin you can remove to tilt the strut so you can get the strut out of the way of your truck, but since it's a pin it can't be tightened unless you replace it with a screw from the hardware store. . There is a quarter inch gap between the metal hitch tube and the bracket that holds the metal tube that goes to the bike's wheels. This gives plenty of wiggle room to rock your bikes and mounting bracket from side to side. You'll need to quickly install some sort of washer, washer or whatever to stop the side-to-side rocking/wiggling. I see this rocking breaking the pin after a while from hitting the pin repeatedly.

Pros
  • Bike tire mounts conveniently adjust on horizontal bars with quick-release knobs and include rubber straps for added stability. Material: Steel
Cons
  • A newer model may have been selected
