Rexing S1 Overview I have been using the previous Rexing camera for two years. S1 is head and shoulders above the previous one in quality. The most important thing in my opinion is the quality of the video. The S1 is good enough to capture number plates clearly. Major advantage! Three cameras in one, one facing forward, one facing into the car's cockpit and one mounted on the back of the car, provide excellent coverage. In the event of an accident you can show the police what really happened and that you weren't using your phone when the accident happened when they point it out to you! That last benefit is also a deterrent to focus on driving just in case. The nice thing is that you can direct the two main cameras according to your needs. You also have full control over which cameras record, including very high quality 1296P recording if you select just the front camera. Another big plus is the ability to turn on the Wi-Fi connection to the camera and control the recording from your smartphone. You can also play the recordings and download them to your smartphone, no longer having to remove the MicroSD card to read them on your PC. The camera has a loop recording function that saves videos at intervals of 1 to 3 minutes that you specify. and start a new recording. Videos are stored on the SD card and are only overwritten when the card is full, with the oldest ones being overwritten first. I purchased a Gigastone 256GB Micro SD Card, Gaming Plus, Nintendo Switch Compatible, 100MB/s High Speed, 4K Video Recording, Micro SDXC UHS-I A1 Class 10 from Revain. It's fast enough to record all three cameras and big enough to store 30 hours of video footage. This camera fixed a serious problem with the old one. It reliably starts recording when switched on and continues recording smoothly. There was a time when an old camera would just stop recording and you had to monitor it regularly to make sure that didn't happen. A small plus is that it's easier to see what the S1 is recording by looking at the display, but I stopped after seeing how reliable it was. The buttons and camera interface are fairly intuitive, although the documentation doesn't provide enough detail to fully understand what all the features mean and how to use them. For example, Parking Monitor and G-sensor are used to detect damage to your car while parked, but I had to email support to find out how to set them up for my needs. It's great to have a parking monitor but it would be better if the manual had more information. I was concerned that the parking monitor feature, which requires the camera to be powered by your battery, might drain my battery. With the very affordable Rexing Smart Hardware Kit, however, this is not a problem. The kit turns off the camera when the car battery drops to 11.4 volts, leaving enough to start the car. Finally, Rexing's customer service provided helpful information very quickly. Show law enforcement, your insurance company or others what happened in the accident or who damaged your car while parked, this camera will get you there.
