Ideal general purpose counter, replaces the old analogue

If the manufacturer made similar general purpose counters I would decorate my panel with these counters, the perfect replacement for the old analogue meter slots. The sensor wire wasn't long enough for my application, decided to solder a different length. The supplied sensor cable is sensitive to external noise sources and will result in inaccurate RPM readings. Adding a ground shield to the coaxial cable helps, as does rewiring near low noise levels. Initially, my wire was routed too close to the ignition coil, causing the RPM to double. I repurposed a coax TV cable by grounding the shielded (coax/cable) wire most of the way. (May help with interference at high speeds). The sensor wire is not special, any wire can be replaced/supplemented. I used coated copper wire (commonly used in transformers) to lengthen the sensor and make winding the 5-7 spark plug wire easier since the copper is tight to the wire insulation. If the spark plug coil affects the spark, add a layer of insulation before wrapping the coil 5-7 turns. This taught me that inductive sensors don't need inductive clamps like ammeters do. Just a tight coil with 5-7 turns worked great. I noticed that the coil ends at the spark plug end and starts at the distributor end. The light comes on when the inductive sensor indicates the engine is running. After switching off the engine, the display remains on for a short time. The indicator will turn off while the external 12V battery remains connected, maintaining the voltage of the original battery and continuing to power the memory, conserving the internal CR2032 battery for longer life. Construction. The negative (black) wire goes to chassis ground, battery (-). The jumpers on the black wire also configure the number of sparks per revolution for motor types (+) Red Plus. Connect to a 12V DC battery. or 12V 24/7 power supply, it must always be on to save storage space. In this mode, the memory consumes very little power. (S) Sensor wire routed to spark plug wire, wound into a tight coil 5-7 times as shown in the instructions provided. I recommend using grounded, shielded wire for most wiring to avoid unwanted signals affecting RPM readings.
