I bought this item for my 9 year old daughter as owls are her favorite bird. I was afraid to let her work with the needle (which is very sharp and very easy to pierce yourself) so I just let her do the main body parts. I also think that the details of the eyes and beak would be too much for such a small child. However, I enjoyed working on both. One night while watching a movie on TV I was able to kill two owls. It didn't take long and they are just adorable. The kit contains enough material to make more than two.
