Review Update: Unfortunately my $500 bike was stolen last weekend (I live in San Francisco). My bike and my lock are gone! The purpose of a bike lock is to deter theft. And this goal was NOT achieved in 3 months with this lock. I really regret buying this lock to replace my thick and heavy Kryptonite New York chain with the Evolution disc lock. When I get a new bike I reuse my old Kryptonite New York chain with the Evolution disc lock - although this chain/lock is very heavy - it actually prevents the bike from being stolen! Bike racks and parking meters :) . I've been using it for a few months now and my bike hasn't been stolen in San Francisco yet. My only complaint is that the hinges lack resistance so the lock falls out quickly when opened. The end of the lock hit the sidewalk many times because I couldn't catch it fast enough. It would be ideal if the hinges had some traction so the lock (on the side you're not holding) doesn't fall out quickly.
